The pakistani airforce has recieved it's first AWACS from sweden the SAAB erieye which has a detection range of over 450km . this will enhance the capabilities of the PAF manifolds & pose a grave danger to India

for ur info india ordered 3 phalcons with a follow up for 3 more which will obviously b done considering its capabilities an vast area of india. u need more than 3 to monitor a country as big as india. in terms of capability alone phalocn surpasses erieye.phalcon has a 360 dg coverage where as erieye has about 60 dg blindspots which can b taken adv of by traind pilots in a combat situation.an wrt to platform itself IL76 outperforms turboprop SAAB2000 in terms of fueal capacity, endurance ,service ceiling etc.references:

NOTE:PLS DON TURN THIS INTO AN INDO-PAK slugfest.discussions should b purely based on the technical capabilities an shudnt b biased

also the best defence analysts say that Phalcon is the best AWACS platform in the world Cool . But definitely 3 arent going to be enough for us, we definitely need the next 3 of the follow up, and also some more from DRDO.... both of these will ensure maximum tactical visibility in the skies..

but definitely the purchase of AWACS by pakistan coupled with purchase of il-78 tankers is going to boost their strength many many times. it indeed is situation to take their moves seriously..

PostSubject: SAAB 2000 erieye - No match for IL76 Awacs   Tue Dec 21, 2010 11:21 am

SAAB 2000 erieye is no way near to IAI Phalcon Systems..
Only one Phalcon is enough to track 10 "SAAB 2000 erieye" and guide SU-30MKIs to them.
And the aircraft platform for AWACS.. Its very important. Il-76 outperforms Saab-2000 in Range,Speed,Service Ceiling,Endurance,Reliability, etc. Turbo Props are very easy to detect.
Il-76 is a proven aircraft for numerous tasks. Also for AWACS..

Just look at crazydevil333's post for some details.

Il-76 Phalcon is the best, because its a unique combination of...
