where pakistan has been doubling its defence budget since the last four years, india on the contrary has been reducing it drastically.............this is ominous for india as pakistan has taken steps or rather alresy has built a HELLENIC NAVY....india dosent even come close when it comes to naval power assesments..... what the indian government is thinking i dont know.. but as a tax paying indian citizen i plead to the obnoxious INDIAN GOVERNMENT to take some constructive actions to counter this HELLENIC threat....or else APOCALYPTO OF THE UNION GOVERNMENT OF INDIA is just on the threshold...26/11 is about to happen all over again....

Well brother pakistan is on the verge of acquiring the best diesel submarine in the world the U-214, the U-214 was offered to india at a cheaper rate than the SCORPENE but the indian government chose the SCORPENE because of kickbacks. it's a sad story as the SCORPENE takes a longer time to build & is not as effective as the U-214, really sad for INDIA

well anmol i cannot reply for chemical cooper but what i can say to u is that pakistan already has 3 AGOSTA-90b sumbarines which have AIP , india will only get the SCORPENES in 2014 which means that from 2009 to 2014 pakistan will have the edge as far navies go

though Pakistan poses some of advance attack submarine..we too have Kilo class sub..ageing but still dependable..& also we have Tu22M (supersonic, swing-wing, long-range strategic and maritime strike bomber) & Tu-142 (Russian maritime reconnaissance/anti-submarine warfare (ASW) turboprop aircraft.) farther more for anti-submarine role the Sea King, Ka-28 and the domestic built HAL Dhruv are used.

also for indian Navy will induct to counter Submarines of enemy in recent times

1. Akula Class Nuclear submarine -- the 1st one to be named INS Chakra & 2nd yet to be come (in mid-2010)
2. eight P-8 Poseidon Anti Submarine Warfare/Maritime Surveillance Aircraft.
3. Ka31 helicopter
4. Indian own nuclear capable SSBN & SSGN
5. Scorpène class submarines

hi prince totally agree with you but i think india needs more capable diesel submarines like the amur of russia & the A-26 of sweden without diesel subs it will be difficult to manage the threat from pakistan & China

also we need project 22-350 frigates from russia

india needs more krivak -IV frigates from russia to tackle the threat from pakistan.

pakistan is getting f-22p frigates from china we must counter that threat

Hello Buddy. First of all you should have given a brief editorial about what made you think so + a poor head for the thread:|
And as far as the defence Budget is concerned India is far ahead of Pakistan. The defence budget for India is about 32,700,000,0 00 for 2009-2010 while for Pakistan it is just about 9,200,000,000 at most.

Again our navy is acquiring a number of platforms – frigates, destroyers, corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, mini counter vessels, fast interceptors and tankers while finalising design for the landing platform dock on the lines of INS Jalashwa (USS Trenton). We have presently 40 ships and submarines on order. In the next year alone, the Navy will get delivery of two frigates, six fast-attack crafts, two survey vessels and a fleet tanker. Work on the indigenous aircraft carrier is going on and is expected to be ready for launch next year ahead of the induction scheduled in 2014. Vikramaditya is about to be inducted in couple of years together with our Indigenous Arihant. I think India is well placed to tackle Pak at any hour.

if u guys can rely too much on Chinese junk (Type 053H3 frigate), we have our own Kolkata Class Stealth destroyer..& also Project 17A class frigate & also Krivak-IV frigates. keep dreaming

well we are going to compare indian and pakistan submarine fleet then we should not only compare just the present but future too...
present : india operates 16 submarines in which maximum are going mid time refit after which not only their life will be extended but their capability will enhance to a new high level.
pakistan on the other hand operates half the submarine india does and they are facing actute shortage in that too as they are coming to their end their term of operation.

but before i continue any further i should tell you one thing india have a long coastline of shallow waters in which diesel engine submarine are more effective than nuclear one so india need then more than n-sub.
future:till 2020 to 2035 india have plans to build and acquire 35 nuclear and diesel engine submarine which will be thrice the strength pakistan has plans till that era .india not have leaps ahead in nuclear submarine project but has started building 6 scorpean submarine with 6 more additional tender will be allocated next year.till now india has plan to build 5 to 6 nuclear sub with acquiring 2 nuc-sub from russia after the lease period is over .also india will float a global tender for the most advance submarines present in the world like "s1000, based on the Amur SSK and featuring AIP technology" which will account for 10 to 12 submarines...so you can get the idea that till 2020-2025 we will be having around 25to 28 sub and till 2035 it will increase till 35 submarines..
while the pakistan naval doctrine states of having 10 or max 12 submarines and that mostly the chinese stuff...

but the most important thing about war is not just the number our navy is a true blue water navy whereas the latter is
not and do not forget the 1971 war where we do not possesed any submarine and destroyed karachi port with small missile boats and sank one of their subs...
our navy is one of the most professional navy in the world and particularly we are not a country centric like pakistan so there is no comaparision between the two country in not in navy but in any field except terrorism

its not what they can do, the question is ,if they can do??...over the time specially the pakistan navy have failed again and again like in 1971 when they were the only one who possesed a submarine but what they did with that ,the history speaks itself .the war is fought not only by numbers but with morale and money and pakistan at this time lacks both, and a nation which had become accustomed of proxy war finds itself uncomfortable in open war ..so for their own better prospect hope they never have to face such a situation...

The strength of any force depends largely on the tactics, and not the weapons possessed. There is no point having the best stealth frigate in the world if you don't know how to use it properly. Remember how the Indian Shermans and Chaffees held against the superior Pattons in Rann of Kutch?

Nobody can predict which navy uses the best strategy. As far as capability is concerned, any country is capable of destroying the other, but only time will tell which one WILL do it. Any navy is capable of sinking even the Nimitz, but the real question is who will get that far to deliver the critical charge. So let's not waste time here with this pointless thread. Success and failure is largely dependent on the situation.

NEW DELHI: The last of India's Foxtrot-class submarines, INS Vagli, will retire after 36 years of operational service on Thursday. But the well-deserved nostalgia over INS Vagli's yeoman service should come with a harsh reality check.

India is now down to just 14 ageing submarines, with only eight to nine operational at any given time. It will get progressively worse. By the time Navy gets the first of the six Scorpene submarines being built at Mazagon Docks in 2015 — the Rs 23,562-crore project is already running three years behind schedule — only 10 submarines will be operational.

Latest projections, in fact, show India will have only five of the existing 10 Russian Kilo-class and four German HDW submarines by 2020. And only two by 2022.

Even if the six Scorpenes manage to roll out between 2015 and 2020, as is now expected, India will have a grand total of just eight to nine diesel-electric submarines by 2022.

brother jaydeep thanks a lot that was an eye opener for all of us, that's why have been harping on the fact that India should immediately sign the deal for project-75A , for additional six diesel electric submarines, without further delay

because with every passing year the the silent arm of the indian navy is depleting

but i have one question for all of you.........usually a diesel electric submarine takes two years to be completed, going by that logic india should have had it's first scorpene by 2008 since the deal was signed in 2005, but here we are in 2010 & the first SCORPENE will arrive only in 2015 ......what on earth can explain the 10-year delay in building a diesel electric Submarine ?????

P.S :also brother jaydeep please discuss this issue in the other tread about india's best option for next generation SSK, i have posted a video of the amur-1650 there & i completely support the amur's bid

well its not like we were working on just one sub, we were working on 4 submarine simultaneously, that is causing the delay, but once you start getting deliveries all the deliveries will take less than 3 years.

You are correct Indian will never catch Chinese Copy Cat culture....
Chinese Navy leading only in NUMBERS.. In technology and Quality, china is poor. Chinese race in military is mainly propelled by MONEY.. not by good Education or Thorough Scientific background (Also am not underestimate chinese Education or Scientists).
So just try to understand the situation in China. China is far away from Communist ideology too.
But Chinese Diplomacy is brilliant enough to use their resource and wealth in aggressive manner(copy or genuine) they will score the goal at right time.(That kind of attitude is the real threat to India. Indian Diplomats lacking it)

As a Democratic Country (Largest Democratic Country in the world) Indian Diplomatic Movements are slower than Chinese Diplomacy.

Pakistan is a tool for both China and US to control the growth of India. and not a friend as PAK thought...

@mao:-no mao sorry to break this but china do not have the best navy in the world and if it had then tiwan would be integrated in china as china should not fear us pacific fleet presence and regarding india my friend with the world largest peninsula in the world we do not need too much to crack chinese navy we can block the whole chinese route if we want to but india do not have ambition to start a war as no good comes from war and beside india china have lots and lots to worry and besides china india have many issues of their own and regarding chinese tech most of them are either copied or license built from russia.
